Weight Lifting For Fat Loss
⭐️”I don’t want to get bulky”
⭐️”I just want to tone”
⭐️”I use light weights so I can work up more of a sweat and burn more fat”
We hear phrases like this quite often from people who are trying to lose body fat.
What most people don’t understand is that the best way to lose body fat is to lift heavy weights and take longer rests.
Here’s why:
1) ♠️Heavy Lifting Increases Muscle Mass♠️
And more muscle mass = an increased metabolism.
The most muscle you have, the more calories the body burns even while resting.
2) ♠️Heavy lifting with adequate rest periods is the best way to make positive hormonal changes♠️. And balanced hormones are important for fat loss.
3) ♠️A strong muscle is a muscle that you can see!♠️ “Toning” requires strengthening and building up muscle mass. If there is no muscle to begin with, you can lose all the body fat in the world but you’ll never have a “toned” look.
Benefits of Strength Training
There are a ton of other benefits that strength training has on your body, including enhancing balance/stability, strengthening bones & connective tissue, building confidence & self-esteem, and reducing high blood pressure & cholesterol. However, none of these changes occur if you aren’t using enough weight to stimulate muscle growth.
In other words, if you can lift the weight you’ve chosen for 15-20 reps, you may not see the kind of fat loss you are looking for.
Sadly, most people shy away from lifting heavy weights? for fear of getting bulky, fear of injury, confusion, fear of the unknown, or fear of pain. These fears often keep people lifting the same amount of weight for weeks, months, or even years. And doing the same thing for this amount of time will not elicit the results you are looking for.
