Why do we Wait to Make a Change?

Are you someone who has started & stopped a fitness/nutrition program repeatedly? Do you wait until Monday to start your diet? Or until the New Year to start your exercise program?

If you said yes to any of these questions, you aren’t alone. Many people are like this. A lot of people put their goals off until the time is right. But….when will that be?

As humans, we are constantly looking for ways to make more time. There aren’t enough hours in a day and life is way too short. And it’s not getting any longer. Which is kind of my point. NOW is the time to make shit happen. Life is too short to keep putting off your goals. When we wait until January or Monday to start a new healthy habit, we rob ourselves of potential we will never know.

And even though we all complain about lack of time, it really has nothing to do with time at all. We are just making excuses and simply not making our health goals a priority.

So next time you say, “I don’t have time to work out”, or “I don’t have time to meal prep”, try saying “this isn’t a priority to me.” I guarantee it won’t feel good.

The truth is that we make time for a lot of things in our lives that aren’t that important or life changing. Things like watching our favorite tv show, browsing social media, playing Words with Friends (guilty). We MAKE time for these things, even though it often feels as if the time isn’t there.

It really comes down to adjusting our day to make the most of what we NEED to get done. Do I like getting up at 4:15am to get my workout in? No!

But there are other things I NEED to do throughout the day that don’t allow me to train later in the day. So early morning is when I MAKE time for it. Because my health is a priority to me, and if I don’t train first thing in the mmorning, I won’t do it at all.

We all have our priorities and society has put so much emphasis on Monday and January as if they are magic. But YOU are the secret ingredient to your health and fitness journey. It’s not going to be a special day of the week or time of year. Life is super-fast, crazy busy and it will never calm down enough to fit everything in. You must make your health a priority and THAT is how you get results and change your life.

So, stop putting off your goals until Monday, or January, or when life “gets less busy”. Because those things won’t make a difference. The difference is going to come from your desire to change no matter what day is it, what month it is, and how busy you are. I don’t care if you’re reading this on a Thursday or in the middle of June, if you have goals, tackle them now. Stop waiting. Do one small thing today that will allow you to finish your day feeling good about yourself. Then do it again tomorrow. And put it on repeat. No more waiting. Make it happen.
